Low Tide Pop-Up with James Strawbridge

Make your way across the channel for an autumnal feast on the sand, as guest chef James Strawbridge joins The Ruin’s Jess Hughes for a special low tide pop-up.

As the tide retreats between Bryher and Tresco, James Strawbridge will join Jess Hughes, Head Chef at The Ruin Beach Café, for a one-off cook-up on the shoreline at Flood Hatch.

Cooking over the elements and celebrating some of the best produce from Tresco, James and Jess will be making freshly cooked flatbreads while sharing a few tips and ideas for getting the most from simple, seasonal ingredients.

Watch them cook, pick up a little inspiration and, most importantly, try the results for yourself – with a limited number of flatbreads available to buy on the day.

There’ll also be hot chocolate, cakes and other sweet treats on the sand, making this a rather lovely autumn brunch stop before exploring the newly exposed shoreline.

Coming from Bryher

With low tide at 11.30am, this is one of those rare occasions when you may be able to reach Tresco on foot rather than by boat.

If conditions allow, set out from Bryher and follow the exposed seabed towards Flood Hatch, where the pop-up begins at 11am.

The walkability of the channel depends on the tide, weather and atmospheric conditions, so please check locally before setting out and follow all local guidance. If a walking crossing isn’t possible, check the daily boating schedule for your options to Tresco.

No booking is required and the event itself is free to attend.

Food and drinks are available to purchase on the day, with limited numbers of flatbreads available – so arrive early if you’re hungry.
