Dining & Drinking
From our 3 AA Rosette restaurant – the highest-rated in the islands – to our Bar & Terrace and the inimitable Crab Shack, Head Chef Richard Kearsley and his team deliver a true taste of Scilly for hotel guests and non-residents.
Our dining is inspired by island and sea... From shellfish delivered by the island fisherman to vegetables grown just down the lane and meat and game from our favourite mainland suppliers.
Hell Bay is a true haven for foodies. It is home to Scilly’s only 3 AA Rosette restaurant, a bar and sheltered terrace for long lunches and sun-dappled evenings, and The Crab Shack, serving fresh Scillonian shellfish yards from the ocean.
Head Chef Richard Kearsley and his team use the finest ingredients from the islands, Cornwall, and the wider Westcountry to create award-winning dishes inspired by the finest seasonal produce from land and sea. From the Pender fishing family of Bryher to the spicy sauces from Scilly Chilli, grown in the Scillonian sunshine just down the track at Hillside Farm, we’re proud of the relationships we’ve grown with our suppliers over years, decades and even generations.
Our hotel Bar and Terrace is popular with hotel residents and non-residents alike, serving drinks, coffee and cake throughout the day, as well as excellent food for lunch and dinner. It’s the perfect spot to relax and unwind after a day of exploring the island, perhaps with a literal sundowner as the sun sinks into the ocean.
For a truly unique dining experience, head to The Crab Shack. This rustic little hidden gem is in an old net loft on the hotel grounds, just a stone’s throw from the ocean. Indulge in succulent Bryher crab caught and delivered daily by island fishermen. The rustic ambience and stunning views make it the perfect spot for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.

Bar & Terrace
Celebrate the flavours of Cornwall and the islands with a light lunch, post-walk wine or hearty supper in the Bar or sheltered Terrace overlooking the Great Pool and the ocean beyond.
The Crab Shack
An old stone barn yards from the ocean. Scrubbed wooden tables and shared benches. Crab caught just a stone’s throw away. Great company, great food, and great wine to ease the chat. A simple recipe…
The setting is idyllic and the food even better
